Mexican star Natalia Lafourcade will perform at the historic San Jose Civic in support of her new album De Todas Las Flores, which she debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She will also be performing songs from across her Grammy-winning catalog.
De Todas Las Flores is Natalia’s first release of all new original material since her breakthrough 2015 album Hasta La Raiz.
“I kept myself very entertained by visiting all these genres and composers,” she says. “But then I felt an inner call that soon turned into a powerful need. In the midst of the pandemic, I realized that I was hiding from myself, which made me reflect and understand that I had to break the ice and return to the recording studio.”
The result of this search is De Todas Las Flores, a dazzling and deeply sophisticated collection of original songs that feature Natalia’s trademark compositional virtues — the unusual melodic turns, the affecting poetry, her lightness of touch — while also revealing a musical maturity that hints at a new step in her career. It was inspired by themes of vulnerability, life and death, the feminine, nature, the mystical, love and heartbreak.
De Todas Las Flores was recorded entirely to analog tape over twelve intense days in Texas. It was produced by the acclaimed artist Adanowsky, son of film legend Alejandro Jodorowsky. Natalia gathered a new band without rehearsals prior to the album recording, in order to give the music a raw and live energy. The studio band featured musicians from a wide variety of cultures and perspectives: New York guitar icon Marc Ribot, 20-year-old piano wunderkind Emiliano Dorantes, bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Fiona Apple, Soul Coughing) and French drummer Cyril Atef.

Universal gypsy, New Yorker with light feet, Muscovite swan, Italian seducer, Spanish gentleman… there’s as much of Joaquín Cortés as there are kilometers in his boots — but always the Artist, eager to step out from behind the wings and ride on his magic with the fury of an electric rider. His dance is a storm where, curiously, we find refuge. May those boots never cease to beat; may they continue to set the pace for all of us who sit down to watch him every night, in any city.
“Esencia” offers a singular opportunity to experience the artistry of Joaquín Cortés, a living legend in the world of flamenco.
Through a series of pieces representing different flamenco styles such as the soleá, bulería, alegría and farruca, Cortés presents an intimate journey intertwining his own story with the history of flamenco, from its origins to the present day.
“Mr. Cortés is capable of amazingly fast and clear footwork. His stamping may storm, but it does not blur. Throughout the presentation, in which one dance often leads directly into another, the sounds of his feet on the floor have the impact of steady volleys of gunfire. And he punctuates his footwork with blunt kicks and fierce turns.” – The New York Times
Don’t miss the unique chance to witness Joaquín Cortés’ spectacular show “Esencia”, a mesmerizing spectacle featuring over 25 artists, including dancers, musicians and singers, onstage.

Jon Favreau served as Barack Obama’s head speechwriter from 2005- 2013, a role that was far more senior and influential than Jon Lovett’s. Since leaving the White House, Favreau has written and spoken about politics and speechwriting to audiences throughout the world. In 2017, he co-founded Crooked Media, where he’s a co-host of Pod Save America and host of The Wilderness. Jon Lovett is a podcast host, former presidential speechwriter, and straight shooter widely respected on both sides. In 2017 he co-founded Crooked Media, where he co-hosts Pod Save America and hosts Lovett or Leave It, two popular podcasts that are very good. Before Crooked, he served as a speechwriter in the Obama White House, co-created a comedy on NBC called 1600 Penn (canceled after one perfect season), and wrote speeches for Hillary Clinton. He recently switched to oat milk.
Tommy Vietor is a cofounder of Crooked Media, cohost of Pod Save America, and the host of the foreign-policy focused Pod Save the World. Gilberto Santa Rosa’s musical elegance and style has made him one of the most prominent figures in popular music. His countless accolades in the recording industry reaffirm his validity through the years, among them the 2002 ASCAP Latin Heritage Award, 6 Grammy awards — most recently, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Necesito Un Bolero.
His rewarding musical path and consistency as one of the most listened-to recording artists on the radio — having achieved 14 number one hits on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart, record sales history including a multitude of Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum album certifications, and the Guinness World Record Holder of the most #1’s on Billboard’s Tropical albums chart (12 in total) — make him one of the most successful Latin music vocalists in the world.
While in his teens, Gilberto attended La Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan, Puerto Rico, and even though he played the saxophone and the trumpet, his desire for singing was always present. On January 6, 1975 he had his national debut as a vocalist on a televised Christmas special. This marked the beginning of a wonderful musical career that lasted for four decades. His presence with La Grande orchestra for two years, as well as his participation with the groups Don Perigñon, Fantasía Boricua of Manolito Rodríguez, and the Puerto Rico All Star Tommy Olivencia, placed the young Puerto Rican on an important pedestal in the Salsa movement of the ’70s.
Guided by his musical desires, he became part of the Willie Rosario orchestra in 1981. This movement placed him as one of the new voices of the Salsa movement in Puerto Rico as well as the international scene. The union to Willie Rosario added musical hits like “Lluvia” and “Botaron la pelota”, songs that have transcended through time. His path as a solo singer was established in the second half of the ’80s — a period when he became known as the “Caballero de la Salsa”.
Gilberto’s unique style as a tropical artist appeared in early albums Salsa en Movimiento, Keeping Cool, Good Vibrations and De Amor y Salsa, for Combo Records. After 1990, Santa Rosa became part of multinational record label Sony Discos (currently Sony Music Latin), recording almost twenty albums including such hits as Perspectiva (1991), A dos tiempos de un tiempo (1992), En Vivo Desde Carnegie Hall (1995), Esencia (1996), Expresión (1999), Intenso (2001), Sólo bolero (2003), Auténtico (2004), Directo al corazón (2006) and Contraste (2007) — all awarded by the American Recording Association “RIAA” for the success in sales — Una Navidad con Gilberto (2008), Irrepetible (2010), Gilberto Santa Rosa (2012) and Necesito Un Bolero (2015).
Billboard magazine named Gilberto Santa Rosa Tropical Artist of the Decade in 2010 through his successful streak of hit albums and singles.
Gilberto Santa Rosa was awarded the Lifetime Culture Achievement award in September 2012 in New York City.
Tickets are on sale as of August 23.

Dropkick Murphys are set to bring their 2024 U.S. St. Patrick’s Day Tour to San Jose with punk legends Pennywise as special guests, with hotly-tipped Dublin rock band The Scratch.
Dropkick Murphys recently returned to fully electric performances following a pair of critically-acclaimed acoustic albums – 2022’s This Machine Still Kills Fascists and 2023’s Okemah Rising – interpreting the work of Woody Guthrie for a new generation. The albums, recorded in Tulsa with trusted collaborator and producer Ted Hutt, exposed the band to new audiences through airplay on stations like SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, coverage in outlets such as Rolling Stone Country, Paste, CNN, Americana Highways and SPIN, and via Dropkick Murphys’ first-ever acoustic, reserved-seating theater tour in 2022.
Dropkick Murphys Okemah Rising band members are: Ken Casey (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, tin whistle, accordion, piano, vocals), Jeff DaRosa (guitars, banjo, mandolin, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitars and vocals) and Kevin Rheault (bass).

Formed in the South Bay of Los Angeles — a neighborhood with a rich punk-rock history — in 1988, Pennywise went on to amass an international following with their relentless touring and a melodic, high-energy sound fusing classic punk, surf punk and blistering hardcore. Resolutely working outside the margins of the mainstream, the band — singer Jim Lindberg, guitarist Fletcher Dragge, drummer Byron McMackin and bassist Randy Bradbury — has emerged as an enduringly vibrant staple on SoCal radio airwaves and the worldwide festival circuit.
Tickets are on sale as of November 17.

Iconic Australian pop/rock duo Air Supply bring their timeless hits to San Jose.
With a career spanning over four decades, Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, at rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney, Australia. They became instant friends with their common love for The Beatles and, of course, singing. Since then, the duo continues to perform worldwide.
In 1980, “Lost in Love” became the fastest-selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts, and it was named Song of the Year. Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top-five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies.
The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.
Valentine’s Day pre-party packages are available.
Tickets are on sale as of October 20.

The renowned speaker, influencer, actor and television host Dante Gebel arrives in San Jose with his “Presidante 2023” Tour.
The creator of the “Authentic”, “A corazón abierto” and “Intimate” conferences, will present a new world tour where he opens his heart and shares with us about life, death, nostalgia and everyday stories that lead to profound reflections of the soul; allowing himself the license to be “President for a day” with a lot of humor, tears and a message to the heart.

Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.
Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Seussical is fun for the whole family!
