Bill Maher, host of HBO’s smash hit Real Time, is returning to San Jose with an all new stand-up comedy show in 2021. Maher will bring his special brand of political humor to the San Jose Civic for an unforgettable evening of comedy. After one of the craziest years in modern history, Maher will have plenty of hot topics to cover in what is sure to be one of the most talked about comedy shows of 2021.
For more than twenty years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last thirteen years on HBO’s Real Time, Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 34 Emmy nominations. Maher won his first Emmy in 2014 as executive producer for HBO series, VICE. In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher’s uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, Religulous, directed by Larry Charles (Borat). The documentary has gone on to become the 8th highest grossing documentary ever.
In addition to his television program – which has featured such regular visitors as Howard Dean, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Arianna Huffington, Cory Booker and Michael Moore – Maher has written five bestsellers: True Story, Does Anybody Have a Problem with That? Politically Incorrect’s Greatest Hits, When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden, New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer, and most recently, The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass.
Maher started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1979, and still performs at least fifty dates a year in Las Vegas and in sold-out theaters all across the country. Three of his ten stand-up specials for HBO – 2007’s The Decider, 2005’s I’m Swiss, as well as the hilarious, Bill Maher … But I’m Not Wrong – have been nominated for Emmy awards.
Maher was born in New York City, raised in River Vale, N.J. and went to Cornell University. He now resides in Los Angeles.

The iconic Mexican rock band Zoé is on an extensive U.S. tour in support of its new album Sonidos de Kármatica Resonancia.
When the band had finished touring behind their Grammy winning album Aztlán in 2019, lead singer León Larregui felt a sudden urge to return to the recording studio right away.
“I preferred taking advantage of the momentum we had built together and work on Zoé’s seventh album,” Larregui explains. “The idea was to cut the new tracks fairly quickly. We got to work and soon enough we had finished demos for eight songs. Then the pandemic hit, and the world turned upside down.”
The crisis hit the band members hard, putting their plans on hold. But there was a silver lining. Now complete after a turbulent creative process that lasted well over a year, the aptly titled Sonidos de Karmática Resonancia may very well be Zoé’s most artful, mature and fully realized work to date.
Now, Zoé is planning a return to the stages of the world, boosted by the anticipation of presenting the new songs in a concert setting – the band in its purest element, surrounded by their devoted fans.
“I spent years dreaming of recording an album like this one,”says [guitarist and co-founder] Sergio Acosta. “And you know what makes it so special? The beauty that it’s still the five of us – playing together after so many years.”

Iconic Australian pop/rock duo Air Supply marked their 45th Anniversary in 2020 and will hit the road to celebrate.
Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, at rehearsals for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Sydney, Australia; they became instant friends with their common love for The Beatles and, of course, singing.
In 1980 “Lost in Love” became the fastest selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts and was named Song of the Year. Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost In Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. To date they have performed 5000 concerts together.
The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.
Tickets are on sale as of Fri June 18.

RL Grime first came to prominence as a New York-based teenager delivering monster, viral remixes of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” and Kanye West’s “Mercy.” He established himself as a unique artist in his space with a striking monochromatic aesthetic, a series of animated music videos, and an annual Halloween mix that has included drops from Goosebumps author RL Stine, comedian Hannibal Buress, and Tony Hawk.
After solidifying his fanbase with a few highly-regarded EPs, RL Grime independently released his first studio album, VOID, in 2014. It premiered as the #1 Electronic album in the United States and remained in that position for a month.
At that point — with over 150 million plays, rave reviews and magazine covers, and sets at the biggest festivals in the world including Coachella & Lollapalooza — most artists would cash out. RL Grime stuck to his underground roots and limited his releases.
His portfolio grew with an expanding list of collaborators that included Big Sean, Miguel and Skrillex. And in late 2017, he emerged with “Era,” a tour-de-force single that Billboard described as “exotic, massive, and fill-of-left-turns.” Its epic, cinematic sound announced a new era and an accompanying album: NOVA.
RL Grime’s uncompromising artistry has paid off. NOVA was preceded by a sold-tour that included stops in Australia, Los Angeles and New York. Its hype has only swelled in the absence of information surrounding the album, leaving fans and blogs to speculate on their own.
On the heels of his new album En Tus Planes, which reached #1 on Spain’s sales list and is already triple-platinum, David Bisbal’s tour of the same name visits San Jose.

With a career spanning over 19 years, David Bisbal is a multi-Latin Grammy Award-winning artist. He has received three Latin Billboard Awards, three World Music Awards and two Ondas Awards, among others. Additionally, he has won 11 Diamond Records for album sales and sold over 5 million tickets from his thousand-plus concerts worldwide.
Note: David Bisbal at the San Jose Civic has been rescheduled from November 6, 2020 to October 30, 2021. All tickets from the original date will be honored on this new date.

Intocable is one of the most influential groups in the Tejano/Norteño music scene today. Their road to success began twenty years ago in Zapata, Texas, when friends Ricky Muñoz and René Martínez dreamed of bringing their songs to the world as they crafted a unique and extraordinary style of music which expertly fuses Tejano conjunto music, Norteño folk rhythms, pop ballads and rock.
After years of dedication and passion, the dream became an indisputable reality. With #1 hits such as “Robarte un Beso,” “Prometí,” “Te Amo (Para Siempre),” “Culpable Fui (Culpable Soy),” their latest “Tu Ausencia,” as well as fan favorites like “Dame Un Besito,” “Eres Mi Droga,” Enséñame a Olvidarte,” “Sueña,” “Contra Viento y Marea,” “Llueve,” “Arrepiéntete,” among others, Intocable continues to entertain and delight audiences in both the United States and Mexico.

One of the earliest and most celebrated operas, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas is arguably one of the most important operatic works of the 17th century.
Having forsworn romantic love, Dido, Queen of Carthage, is tormented by the Trojan hero Aeneas, who is desperate for her affections. As their love is kindled, a powerful sorcerer plots the queen’s downfall.
Through deceit, trickery, and the conjuring of a raging storm, Dido is ripped from Aeneas, in Purcell’s soaring, richly nuanced work culminating in one of opera’s greatest tragedies.
Opera San José Music Director Joseph Marcheso conducts this stunning new production, featuring celebrated baritone Efraín Solís as Aeneas, lauded soprano Maya Kherani as Belinda, and multi-award-winning bass-baritone Nathan Stark as the Sorcerer.
Individual tickets are on sale as of August 2nd.
