Thundercat (Stephen Bruner) released his most recent album, It Is What It Is, in the spring of 2020. The record won Best Progressive R&B Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards and features musical contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole, Pedro Martins and Zack Fox. Thundercat produced the record with his longtime partner Flying Lotus, who was Grammy-nominated in the “Producer of the Year” category for his work on the album.
It Is What It Is follows Bruner’s game-changing third album Drunk (2017), which completed his transition from virtuoso bassist to bonafide star and cemented his reputation as a unique voice that transcends genre.
“This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that,” Bruner says about It Is What It Is. Concurrently, the tragic passing of his friend Mac Miller in September 2018 had a profound effect on Thundercat and the making of It Is What It Is. “Losing Mac was extremely difficult,” he explains. “I had to take that pain in and learn from it and grow from it. It sobered me up… it shook the ground for all of us in the artist community.”
Thundercat describes the album as “a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don’t necessarily understand… some things just aren’t meant to be understood.” Clearly, however, fans understood It Is What It Is, an unexpectedly apt title for when it arrived. In addition to its Grammy win, the album and its songs landed on dozens of year-end lists and roundups at Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPR, Vulture and Allmusic — to name a few.
Previous releases include The Golden Age of Apocalypse (2011), Apocalypse (2013), followed by EP The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam, featuring the modern classic “Them Changes.” He was later “at the creative epicenter” (per Rolling Stone) of the 21st century’s most influential hip-hop album Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, where he won a Grammy for his collaboration on the track “These Walls” before releasing his third album Drunk in 2017.
Outside of his solo work, Thundercat keeps busy across numerous genres. In 2021, his dreamy vocals and masterful bass playing feature on “Black Gold”, the theme song for the Netflix original anime Yasuke, soundtracked by Flying Lotus. In addition, Thundercat recently collaborated on releases from Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak), HAIM, H.E.R. and Kaytranada, as well as contributing an original song for the final season and soundtrack from HBO’s Insecure.
Thundercat’s latest work has seen him branching outside of music, making his television debut with a recurring role as The Modifier in the Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett, and appearing as the face of recent fashion/brand campaigns for Kerwin Frost and Kenny Beats, as well as attending Paris Fashion Week as a guest of Spanish luxury designer LOEWE.
The name Thundercat refers to the cartoon he’s loved since childhood and an extension of his wide-eyed, vibrant, often superhuman approach to his craft. In 2020, things came full circle when Bruner voiced a character (and penned a song) named “Grune the Destroyer” in Cartoon Network’s Thundercats Roar animated series.

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, widely regarded as one of the most influential and beloved Americana artists of the 21st century, are embarking on a North American tour with a new, all-star line-up: Adams, Brad Pemberton, Chris Stills, Daniel Clarke & Don Was.
****
In 2005 when Brad and I had this mutual dream, we recorded Cold Roses in what can only be described as a state of being inside some kind of magic. We were part of it, shaping it, but Cardinals were a state of mind, and we were set adrift in the magic, in its rapids, falling forever over and over the falls off the edge of the world.
I remember discussing the artwork for Cold Roses with Brad over a few cold pops. “Let’s make the cover a book of magic…” as we talked about how weird it was we both felt this album above all would be important to us later, how we knew those days were a zenith point and going to not even seem real, Brad in his chess player magician way leaned in and said, “we need to leave a breadcrumb trail in that book if we ever want to get back here someday.” That grin. That squinty eyed grin of his.
We believed in the Cold Roses book of magic. We believed it so much we made a doorway if we ever wanted to find a way back.
If you look inside the artwork within Cold Roses, you’ll see a portal in there. I remember making that call to the art director and manager. “Look, I know it’s 2 am but we just left the studio and we need a portal in there – a window to another place with different weather on the other side.”… The line was as silent as the bar was loud, it was a pay phone – remember those – “okay” the voice answered flatly and amused. “Just make it look like there’s a window out of that book – inside the vinyl maybe on the slip sleeve insert – into a different time or dimension, some unknown other one.” Go look. It’s there.
Recently the signs have been everywhere. Brad and I kept up but were calling each other way more frequently – strange things were afoot. Spacewolf’s bass pick somehow ended up in a glass holder in my master bath. Next to where I keep this postcard Neal sent me with this psychedelic waterfall. Brad ran across a book of lyrics and drawings from back then, our old tour guidebook. The lights turned on and off in my house on days I played at home but in different rooms on different lamps. It felt like a warm hug. Like a sign.
Brad and I have both felt the gravity of those songs calling us home. The state of mind of what the living song in its own form was had returned to us both like a neon sign slowly lighting up in the fog and rain. After a few phone calls we knew it was time to find the portal. To take it to the future we left in it and continue this dream where it started.
That time is now. This is that future. Our spirits are calling to the other time in a living ache in a ghost dance.
It’s time.
Welcome to the other side. Welcome back, all.
Let’s go find out what we were meant to build here on the other side. Let’s ride this moon beast again across the valley – until we reach the plateau. Warpaint and wind.
For Spacewolf [Chris Feinstein], For Neal [Casal]… for this beautiful thing we left unfinished. And for you. Risk. Clouds. Motion. The open sky and the plateau. It’s time.
-Ryan Adams

Born Sander van Dijck, his catalog reads like a diary. Falling in love with punk and alt-rock, he learned to play the guitar and make noise of his own. Coming up as a future bass producer in the Soundcloud era, San’s unique style and honest approach to songwriting has earned him a loyal following that supported his independent debut album, cementing the artist as a star in a league all his own, while earning the praise of critics and peers from rock icons like Rivers Cuomo and Tom Morello to producers such as Porter Robinson.
For San Holo, everything is personal. Every note is a story and each lyric a memory, a hyper-real exploration of purpose, emotion and shared experience. The Dutch producer lives in his own space, crafting a world of beauty and sentiment through what he calls “existential dance music” (EDM).

Latin urban’s new generation has a name and it’s Jhayco.
Straight from the island of enchantment arrives Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortés, better known as Jhayco, a trailblazer and phenomenon that has somehow managed to shape and disrupt the music industry, all at the same time.
Originally born in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico, Jhayco lived in New Jersey for most of his childhood. At the age of 12 he returned to Puerto Rico and found that a new style of music had increased in popularity. That was when he fell in love with urban music, listening to Don Omar, a sound that helped define his future as a singer-songwriter and artist forever.
From the early age of 14 he began to produce and compose songs, and it was only two years later, at the age of 16, that his work as producer and composer in Tito El Bambino’s album Invencible granted him his first Grammy.
Catapulted into a promising career as a composer, he began working hand in hand with great artists like Zion & Lennox, Natti Natasha and Nicky Jam, among others. All the while, he would continue to develop his own sound and discover his style, eventually releasing his first songs.
Jhayco continued working as a composer and producer, taking home his second Grammy Award for Best Urban Album for J Balvin’s 2018 album Vibras, for which he wrote four songs. He also won Song of the Year awarded by the Songwriters Association, ASCAP, for the song “I Like It” by Cardi B, J Balvin and Bad Bunny. Two more of his songs, “Criminal” and “No Es Justo” also received awards.
He became a household name in the urbano scene with his massive worldwide hit “No Me Conoce,” which later had reggaeton superstars J Balvin and Bad Bunny in a remix that skyrocketed him to the top of the charts. It maintained its spot among the most watched videos and most listened songs globally, in addition to being among the Top 5 in Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs and on the general market’s Hot 100 list.
His album Famouz, composed entirely by him and for which he also acted as the executive producer, charted on Billboard’s Top 10 Latin Albums in the United States for more than 70 weeks. With Famouz Reloaded, he debuted in the Top 10 Latin charts on Apple Music in 23 countries, featuring collaborations with the genre’s heavy hitters such as J Balvin, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Wisin y Yandel, Zion & Lennox and Karol G, among others.
Jhay has been praised and recognized as an artist that stands out within the urban music scene, not only by the media and the genre’s heavy hitters, but also by music fans around the world. He is the genius behind some of the biggest Latin hits in the world (including Dakiti, No Me Conoce, Medusa, among others).
With over 16 billion combined streams, the trailblazing Puerto Rican artist has helped shape the landscape of urban music today. Jhayco presents a new age in the urban scene, crafting an international sound for the Latin genre and taking it to global stages for his diverse and continually growing fanbase. Jhayco’s latest album Timelezz was #1 on iTunes Latin Chart and #2 on Billboard. Jhayco’s song “Dakiti” with Bad Bunny led him to #1 on the Billboard Global 200.
With over 30m monthly Spotify listeners and part of the Billion Club Playlist with “Dakiti” Jhayco has a fan base of 1.8m TikTok followers, 5m Instagram followers and 3.7b+ combined YouTube views and part of the Billion Views Club on both Spotify and YouTube with “No Me Conoce” and “Dakiti”.

Frankie Valli, who came to fame in 1962 as the lead singer of the Four Seasons, is hotter than ever in the 21st century. Thanks to the volcanic success of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys, which chronicles the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group, such classic songs as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” are all the rage all over again.
As two touring companies of Jersey Boys travel around the U.S., the real Frankie Valli is packing concert halls coast to coast, from the Rose Theater, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, to L.A.’s Kodak Theater, home of the Academy Awards.
Frankie and the Seasons have influenced many other great recording artists. That was acknowledged in dozens of tributes collected for Jersey Beat, a Four Seasons boxed set.
For example, from Barry Gibb: “Frankie Valli to me has become one of the hallmark voices of our generation. From the deepest emotions of his real voice to the power of his falsetto, he created a style that we all still strive to emulate.” From Billy Joel: “I wrote ‘Uptown Girl’ as the flip side to the story of ‘Rag Doll.’ I always loved that record.” And from Brian Wilson: “In the early ’60s the Four Seasons were my favorite group. I thought they were fantastic. The voice blend was fantastic. The competition helped me to get cracking. It inspired me, because they made good music. I went to the piano thinking I could top their music.”
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons have sold over 175 million records worldwide.

Mexican star Natalia Lafourcade will perform at the historic San Jose Civic in support of her new album De Todas Las Flores, which she debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She will also be performing songs from across her Grammy-winning catalog.
De Todas Las Flores is Natalia’s first release of all new original material since her breakthrough 2015 album Hasta La Raiz.
“I kept myself very entertained by visiting all these genres and composers,” she says. “But then I felt an inner call that soon turned into a powerful need. In the midst of the pandemic, I realized that I was hiding from myself, which made me reflect and understand that I had to break the ice and return to the recording studio.”
The result of this search is De Todas Las Flores, a dazzling and deeply sophisticated collection of original songs that feature Natalia’s trademark compositional virtues — the unusual melodic turns, the affecting poetry, her lightness of touch — while also revealing a musical maturity that hints at a new step in her career. It was inspired by themes of vulnerability, life and death, the feminine, nature, the mystical, love and heartbreak.
De Todas Las Flores was recorded entirely to analog tape over twelve intense days in Texas. It was produced by the acclaimed artist Adanowsky, son of film legend Alejandro Jodorowsky. Natalia gathered a new band without rehearsals prior to the album recording, in order to give the music a raw and live energy. The studio band featured musicians from a wide variety of cultures and perspectives: New York guitar icon Marc Ribot, 20-year-old piano wunderkind Emiliano Dorantes, bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Fiona Apple, Soul Coughing) and French drummer Cyril Atef.
Performances:
- Tues., Dec. 5, 2023 @ 8pm
- Weds., Dec. 6, 2023 @ 8pm

Gilberto Santa Rosa’s musical elegance and style has made him one of the most prominent figures in popular music. His countless accolades in the recording industry reaffirm his validity through the years, among them the 2002 ASCAP Latin Heritage Award, 6 Grammy awards — most recently, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Necesito Un Bolero.
His rewarding musical path and consistency as one of the most listened-to recording artists on the radio — having achieved 14 number one hits on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart, record sales history including a multitude of Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum album certifications, and the Guinness World Record Holder of the most #1’s on Billboard’s Tropical albums chart (12 in total) — make him one of the most successful Latin music vocalists in the world.
While in his teens, Gilberto attended La Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan, Puerto Rico, and even though he played the saxophone and the trumpet, his desire for singing was always present. On January 6, 1975 he had his national debut as a vocalist on a televised Christmas special. This marked the beginning of a wonderful musical career that lasted for four decades. His presence with La Grande orchestra for two years, as well as his participation with the groups Don Perigñon, Fantasía Boricua of Manolito Rodríguez, and the Puerto Rico All Star Tommy Olivencia, placed the young Puerto Rican on an important pedestal in the Salsa movement of the ’70s.
Guided by his musical desires, he became part of the Willie Rosario orchestra in 1981. This movement placed him as one of the new voices of the Salsa movement in Puerto Rico as well as the international scene. The union to Willie Rosario added musical hits like “Lluvia” and “Botaron la pelota”, songs that have transcended through time. His path as a solo singer was established in the second half of the ’80s — a period when he became known as the “Caballero de la Salsa”.
Gilberto’s unique style as a tropical artist appeared in early albums Salsa en Movimiento, Keeping Cool, Good Vibrations and De Amor y Salsa, for Combo Records. After 1990, Santa Rosa became part of multinational record label Sony Discos (currently Sony Music Latin), recording almost twenty albums including such hits as Perspectiva (1991), A dos tiempos de un tiempo (1992), En Vivo Desde Carnegie Hall (1995), Esencia (1996), Expresión (1999), Intenso (2001), Sólo bolero (2003), Auténtico (2004), Directo al corazón (2006) and Contraste (2007) — all awarded by the American Recording Association “RIAA” for the success in sales — Una Navidad con Gilberto (2008), Irrepetible (2010), Gilberto Santa Rosa (2012) and Necesito Un Bolero (2015).
Billboard magazine named Gilberto Santa Rosa Tropical Artist of the Decade in 2010 through his successful streak of hit albums and singles.
Gilberto Santa Rosa was awarded the Lifetime Culture Achievement award in September 2012 in New York City.
Tickets are on sale as of August 23.
