Riverdance has enthralled and enchanted over 25 million people around the world. With the show entering its 25th year, producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have made some changes….
With fully re-designed lighting, projection and scenery, audiences who have seen the show before will be astonished that something so familiar can be so different. New audiences will witness a vintage show in a state-of-the-art presentation.
In addition, composer Bill Whelan returns to the recording studio to re-record the show’s iconic music with cutting-edge studio equipment and contemporary musicians, many of whom are current members of the Riverdance band.

This is the company premiere of Richard Strauss’ shocking and ecstatic Salome. From the fevered imaginations of Oscar Wilde and Strauss, this one-act, 100-minute opera shook audiences with its cinematic pacing, voluptuous music and graphic story of Salome’s relentless and unquenchable desire for John the Baptist.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story returns to the stage after a sold-out worldwide tour and their latest blockbuster tour of North America where they received standing ovations everywhere.
Using state-of-the-art video projection, photos and original film footage, the show also features a full live band performing all of their hits, including “Mrs. Robinson” (featured in the 1967 film The Graduate), “Cecilia”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, “Homeward Bound” and many more.
With more than 100 million album sales since 1965, Simon & Garfunkel’s perfect harmonies and songs that poignantly captured the times made them one of the most successful folk-rock duos of all time. Over the years, they won 10 Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. In 1977, their Bridge Over Troubled Water album was nominated at the 1977 Brit Awards for Best International Album.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Yundi was propelled onto the international stage when he won first prize at the XIV Chopin International Piano Competition at the age of 18, becoming the youngest and first Chinese winner in the history of the renowned competition.
Since then, he has been regarded as a international piano star, also a leading exponent of Chopin’s music. In the autumn of 2014, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, as the organizer of The International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, invited Yundi to be one of the jury of The 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in 2015, who is also the youngest juror of the competition. In recognition of his contribution to Polish culture, the Government of Poland presented a Gold Medal for Merit to Culture “Gloria Artist” to Yundi in 2010.
The New York Times has praised his performances: “the brilliant young Chinese pianist has proved a technically astounding pianist who is by turns elegant and rambunctious, coolly expressive and white-hot.”
Due to the current global health crisis as well as travel and performance restrictions, George Lopez’s November 21, 2020 tour date at the San Jose Civic has been rescheduled for April 16, 2021. This very difficult decision was made following the recommendations of government authorities including the Center for Disease Control to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). George Lopez, the multi-faceted entertainer with a career that encompasses television, film, stand-up comedy and late-night television returns to the San Jose Civic!
He recently completed his standup comedy tour, The Comedy Get Down, with Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley and Cedric the Entertainer. The comedians also debuted their BET scripted comedy series based on their tour.
George Lopez has been featured in four HBO specials: The Wall in August 2017, It’s Not Me, It’s You in 2012, Tall, Dark and Chicano in 2009, and America’s Mexican in 2007. He also performed as part of HBO and TBS’s Comic Relief 2006. His acclaimed comedy concert Why You Crying? debuted on Showtime in 2004. He released his third standup CD, El Mas Chingon, in 2006, which earned Lopez a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Comedy Album. In 2004, he was nominated for a Grammy in the same category for his CD Team Leader.

Hispanic music icon Leo Dan is considered to be one of the most prominent singer-songwriters in Latin America. His music has conquered hearts across all Spanish-speaking countries.
With a career spanning over 50 years, Leo Dan has brought his music to the most important stages in over 100 countries including the United States and Canada and across Latin America, Europe and Australia. He’s composed over 3,000 songs, and recorded in different genres and languages with over 55 million records sold and counting.
Inspired by rock music since childhood, Leo Dan had his first big hit “Celia” shortly after moving to Buenos Aires and signing with CBS. Dan spent the next decade and a half in Spain and Mexico writing and recording music, including “Siempe Estoy Pensando en Ella”, “Pareces una Nena” and “Esa Pared.”

The highly popular and influential science advocate and author Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson brings two nights with two different topics to the Center for the Performing Arts.
On Monday, May 11th (tickets), Tyson presents “An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies.” From Star Wars to Frozen to The Martian, this is an entertaining and enlightening review of all the science that popular movies got wrong, combined with some of the stuff they got right. Tyson will incorporate the latest films as well as some classics, sharing the science behind in them at all.
On Tuesday, May 12th (tickets), Tyson presents “The Cosmic Perspective.” There is no view of the world as emotionally potent as the one granted by a cosmic perspective. It’s one that sees Earth as a planet in a vast, empty universe. It profoundly influences what people think and feels about science, culture, politics, and life itself.
Tyson has managed to capture audiences with his sometimes humorous and always informative insights into modern physics. A regular guest on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and host of his own enduring radio show StarTalk, Tyson continually inspires generations old and new to take an interest in the universe around them.

Chiquis is an American singer and television personality. She is the eldest daughter of the late singer Jenni Rivera and is featured on The Riveras, a reality TV show on NBC/Universo.
She is also a celebrity judge on Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento (America’s Got Talent format), owns a cosmetics/skincare and fragrance line, and is a New York Times best-selling author — with a second book slated for distribution in April.
Each month, Chiquis releases new music, and her third album is slated for May 2020 under the Fonovisa/Universal Music Latin label.
She began her singing career in early 2014, releasing her first single “Paloma Blanca” as a tribute to her mother. At Premios Juventud, she made her musical debut on international television with her performance of “Esa No Soy Yo.” Since then, she has released numerous hit singles.

Due to the ongoing world health crisis and the continued upwards trend of COVID-19 cases in many US states, Irish Supergroup Celtic Thunder has taken a decision to move its 2020 US and Canadian tour dates to Fall/ Winter 2021. Show producer Sharon Browne cites current US Visa Entry Restrictions for non-US residents, the uncertain timeline for reopening of venues across North America and varying quarantine regulations for movement between States as contributing factors for moving the tour to 2021. Tickets for Celtic Thunder Ireland at the San Jose Civic for Nov. 1, 2020 has been rescheduled to Nov. 2, 2021. All tickets will be honored on the new date.
“Having been in contact with our Promoters and Partners over the past few uncertain months, there is a wide variance from State to State and city to city in terms of cases of Covid-19 and venues being shut down. It has become clear that several states will not be opening theatres this fall. The uncertainty surrounding the timeline for a vaccine has increased our concerns about the health and wellbeing of our fans, our cast and our crew. As a result, we feel we have no alternative but to reschedule our “Celtic Thunder Ireland” tour of the USA and Canada to Fall 2021” states Ms. Browne.
“We, like everyone else the world over, are concerned about the health of our families and community and wish for our fans to remain safe and protected in these troubling times. The prospect of our future tour is something positive that we carry with us now, and we very much look forward to welcoming our fans to a Celtic Thunder show again soon” says Celtic Thunder soloist Ryan Kelly.
