Dance Theatre International (DTI) proudly welcomes you to celebrate student achievement at its 2016 student showcase. Carnaval des Animaux, the culmination of a year’s worth of learning, will feature DTI students of various ages performing a variety of dance genres.
Carnaval des Animaux, with choreography by Xavier and Maggie Ferla, is set to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns. (Saint-Saëns’ “Le carnaval des animaux” is the inspiration for the creative Ballet level portion of the showcase).
The 11am showcase, “Petite Carnaval des Animaux,” will feature DTI’s “shining stars” (aged 3-5) and a variety of dance genres.
The 3pm showcase, “Grande Carnaval des Animaux,” will feature students from the Ballet 2-7 classes, other dance genres and award-winning DTI Company students. The 3pm show will also feature special performances from the professional dancers of Dawson Dance SF.
Stay after the showcases and mingle with the cast, take pictures, and enjoy light refreshments at a social fundraiser to benefit animal shelters. The social fundraiser is the brainchild of Xavier and Maggie’s daughter, Zoe. Her family adopted a shelter dog, Donut, two years ago and she wants to make sure other shelter animals have a similar chance for a happy ending.
Attend the 2016 DTI student showcase to support the “carnaval des animaux” performed by DTI students on stage; stay after to support the animal shelters off stage.
