Lynn Harrell is returning to Symphony Silicon Valley to play one of the most beautiful concertos ever written for the cello.
The orchestra will set the stage with another work by Schumann — a musical portrait by one of the quintessential Romantic heroes, dreamed up by Lord Byron.
Mr. Harrell will be joined by colleagues in Haydn’s sparkling Sinfonia Concertante (a quadruple concerto!).
The concert ends with a trip to Hungary for a colorful arrangement of a set of 19th-century tunes that Gypsy bands used to play in the villages.
