Nrityagram’s Surupa Sen and Bijayini Satpathy come back to the Bay Area with their new duet, Songs of Love and Longing – with songs from that immortal poem romantic ballad Gita Govinda by the 12th century poet Jayadeva. It is choreographed and narrated with exceptional beauty by Surupa Sen, with songs set to an original score by Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi, the guru of Indian dance music.
Music will be performed live on stage by an orchestra of vocals, harmonium, flute, mardala and violin, with songs that are our own stories of love and longing.
