Player Profiles:
Peter Gade
Danish Badminton legend Peter Gade first burst onto the scene when he famously won the 1999 Yonex All England Men’s Singles title. A true master of deception on the court, his agility and speed made it difficult for opponents to deal with him. He went on to win Five European Championship crowns and 22 Grand Prix titles, and was an integral part of the emergence of Denmark in the sport, propelling them to a level at which they could compete with the previously completely dominant Asian teams. Now retired, he spent some time as Head Coach of the French national team before setting up the Peter Gade Academy at the Gentofte Badminton Club in his native Copenhagen.
Lee Yong Dae
Successful across both Men’s and Mixed Doubles, South Korean Lee Yong Dae must truly be recognised as a legend of the sport. With an incredibly impressive resume of titles, his most notable include claiming Gold at the Beijing Olympic games in 2008 and following this up with a Bronze four years later in London. Having spent 104 consecutive weeks as World Number One in Men’s Doubles, Lee Yong Dae also claimed a whole host of titles around the world including four Asian Championships, one Asian games, 26 Super Series wins and ten Super Series Premier wins. On becoming a part of the Yonex Legends Vision initiative, Yong Dae said, “I am very interested in Legend’s Vision and believe it to be a great way to promote badminton worldwide. I am especially interested because, like me, Yonex share a common goal to inspire and motivate the younger generation. I’m very honored to be joining the Legends.”
