Presented by Feng Ye Dance Theater and with the participation of four special guest performers from Jin Xing Dance Theatre, Dance with Nature is a grand modern dance show depicting the role of the Five Elements in the rotation of everything in the universe according to the ancient Chinese Five-Elements Theory and calling upon mankind to cherish and protect nature, our common homeland.
In human history, ancestors of mankind around the world developed ideas and beliefs about the basic elements forming everything in the universe. One of the most popular theories among these ideas and beliefs was the Five-Elements Theory in ancient China. The five basic elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth) were believed by ancient Chinese to constitute everything in the universe and the interreactions between these five basic elements were believed to be the cause of development for everything in the universe.
The producer and artistic director of Dance with Nature is Feng Ye. Feng Ye, former president of the Dance Company of China Oriental Performing Arts Group and China’s National 1st-Grade Dancer. She has been actively engaged in exchanges and collaboration with dancers of various ethnic groups in the San Francisco Bay Area, founded the Feng Ye Dance Studio in San Jose in 2017 which has become the most popular dance studio in the San Francisco Bay area.
