In celebration of its tenth year, Filipino non-profit organization Kawayan Folk Arts presents Dálan, a live theatrical story of mythological heritage of the Philippines featuring cultural music and dance.
Guests will be transported to a mythical world of Dálan where a priestess, a witch and a community of spirits awaken in different parts of the land after a disaster divides them. Follow their journey of self-discovery as they face their fears to return home.
Like Kawayan’s previous shows Makiling (2010) and Kadiliman (2015), Dálan tells its story through traditional Filipino instruments, cultural motifs, and steps of ethnic and folk dances from the Philippines.
Families will also enjoy dances featuring the graceful pantomime from the Islamic Southern Philippines known as Pangalay, the exciting stomps and rhythms of the northern mountainous region of the island of Luzon, as well as ceremonial movements and deep colors from Philippines’ indigenous interior known as Lumad.
“This story touches on Filipino culture and our cast of new and old artists are excited to bring earth, wind, water, and fire to life on stage“ exclaims Kawayan Folk Arts Executive Director, Rene Payomo Jr.
Tickets are on sale as of August 1.
