Direct from their European debut in Spain, the first Silicon Valley Ballet program of the New Year is a sizzling selection of Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño’s favorite works.
Jorma Elo’s Glow Stop, called “sumptuous and dreamy” by Terez Rose of bachtrack.com, is a masterpiece of contemporary ballet choreography, danced to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Phillip Glass.
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Prism, created for the Washington Ballet, uses Keith Jarrett’s Koln Concert as its musical inspiration.
Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 is a thrilling exploration of the human experience featuring a delightfully eclectic score ranging from Dean Martin to mambo to traditional Israeli folk music.
Rounding out the program is a Cuban Pas de Deux, a virtuoso favorite from the classical repertoire, staged by José Maneul Carreño himself.
