It is an emotional story full of worry for two old Vietnamese men in the United States…. They lived more than half of their life in their hometown, but, because of their children, they had to leave.
In their new life, they always longed for their native land; their hearts were always for the fatherland. With the same feeling and loneliness within life in a foreign land, they came to each other to talk and share happy and sad memories together. It was the feeling of both persons living nearly to the end of their life, but that their children –those who were born and grew up in a foreign country — do not know Vietnamese language, do not know about their origin, their homeland, the customs, celebration and family love of their relatives… made them hurt and feel painful in their soul.
Mr. Tu, meritorious artist Thanh Loc with his talent and experience in performance, has owned the stage, leading the audiences closer to the character and to feel the life, the feelings of his part in each emotional level — sometimes sad, warm and lovely, sometimes exciting, happy, noisy. Meritorious artist Huu Chau has successfully performed the part of Mr. Nam – the neighbour of Mr. Tu since they were younger.
In the play, two young actors who were Tuong Vi and Luong The Thanh also gave impression to the audiences by a native, young and lovely performance style. In a new edition, director Vu Minh has made the rhythm of the story faster and eliminated some details in the origin to be more suitable with the new social situation — showing the life, feelings and desires of many overseas Vietnamese people now living, studying and working in foreign countries.
