This annual event, held for the first time in San Jose, takes place from June 5-7 at various San Jose venues including the City National Civic.
From the Conference Co-Chairs: “GAS 2015: Interface: Glass, Art, and Technology takes place in the perfect location. Welcome to Silicon Valley, where innovation is in the air we breathe. Technology is at the heart of much of our economy and culture, from the first PCs to today’s Apple, Facebook and Google.
“By its nature, glass is an innovative and collaborative medium, and our progress both in the aesthetic arena and fabrication has paralleled that of technology, from computerized controllers on furnaces, annealers and kilns to water-jet cutters, 3D printers and CNC routers. Where does art end and technology begin? Do we need to create a defining line, or is the collaboration between the two worlds where true innovation lies?
“Under California’s sunny skies we will explore the interface of technology and art, especially with respect to our favorite medium: glass.”
