The San Jose Youth Symphony’s Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yair Samet, presents its Spring Concert.
The program will open with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture and will conclude with the exciting showpiece, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. This concert will also showcase winners of the 2014 Young Artists’ Competition, proudly sponsored by the San Jose Symphony Foundation.
Four outstanding young soloists will be featured: Sonia Ruiz, flutist, performing Devienne’s Flute Concerto No.7 in G Major; Michael Song, cellist, performing Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D Major; Lucy Minju Kim, flutist, performing Fauré’s Fantaisie for Flute and Orchestra; and Sungwan Scott Ji, violinist, performing Sarasate’s Zigeunerw eisen for Violin and Orchestra.
